Member Publishes Gardening Companion


Congratulations to WHCA member Ellen Hoverkamp whose work is published in the book, "Natural Companions: A Garden Lover's Guide to Plant Combinations," by author, Ken Druse (3/1/12, Stewart, Tabori and Chang, an Imprint of Abrams Books). Ms. Hoverkamp spent three years on the scanner photography for this gardening book after meeting Ken Druse. Hoverkamp will be speaking about the creation of "Natural Companions" followed by a brief demonstration of floral scanning for the gardener on Friday, April 20th, 7:30pm at the Ward-Heitman House located at 277 Elm Street in West Haven, CT.

WHCA Sponsoring Second Artists’ Forum


Calling All Artists!


The West Haven Council on the Arts is hosting its second Artists’ Forum. The event will take place Friday, March 9th, 2012, in West Haven City Hall, Meeting Room B, from 7pm - 9pm. Professor James Reed, a master printer and professor at the University of New Haven, will speak about how the WHCA should proceed with programs based in and produced by the West Haven Center for the Arts located at 304 Center Street in West Haven, CT.

Would you like to see more arts opportunities in West Haven? Come join West Haven Council on the Arts and Master Printer and Ford Fellowship Foundation recipient, James Reed, for a discussion about the future of the arts in West Haven and the West Haven Center for the Arts. Reed, who holds a Bachelor of Arts from University of Missouri and a Master of Arts from San Francisco State University and Tamarind Institute, is the owner and Master Printer at Milestone Graphics in Bridgeport, CT. During a career that spans over forty years, he has worked with over two hundred artists worldwide. In addition to teaching print making for the University of New Haven, Professor Reed helps establish non-profit arts organizations.
